How to Deal with Difficult Clients

WordPress marketing Jun 5, 2019 by Johnny

You know which ones I’m talking about. The ones that keep asking for more and more. Tons of out-of-scope requests and other “extras” while not wanting to pay “extra”.

I used to try and make everybody happy thinking they might one day appreciate my efforts and become much more agreeable (and perhaps even profitable) later.

But I was wrong…

The more you do for un-appreciative clients, the more unappreciative they get. They start getting entitled, thinking you OWE them more. And they get angry if you try to stop doing all these extras. They act like YOU are the one breaching contract.

Well, most people will tell you to just, “FIRE YOUR CLIENTS!”

Yes, yes. But I’ve got even better advice: raise your rates!

Yeaup. Just ask for more money.

It works out very well! Half of them will walk away thinking you’re too expensive. The other half will actually pay up. Of the ones that pay up, half of them will cut down on their requests (returning back to favorable low-maintenance status) and the other half will continue to pay your rates. It’s a win-win for all because your clients get what they want, you are rewarded for your time, AND you have more time leftover since nobody is wasting your time with unpaid requests. Ta da! 🙂
